You have to love the English language...  "Porch Pirate" that's someone who steals the stuff you order from Amazon when they drop it off on your stoop.  They're really just thieves, but Porch Pirates kinda gives them a bit of panache...  Unless, of course, it's your shit they're stealing!

Other than the fact that it's fun to take photos of beautiful people (#1), our photographer wanted to show the steam streaming off of Mr. Stutzcanhang and Jah Morgan.  The only trouble is that you have to get the light just right to make it happen...  He swears the steam was in clouds above them...  (Barry Santos for:   Atmospheric Events Monthly) They were still beautiful however...

Hazy, wintery skies, although it's still technically fall.  Winds were light offshore by 3.0kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 49.8 and the water was comparatively warm at 63.0.  High tide was at 6:19am +6.0' and low tide will be at 12:58pm +0.2'.  Tomorrow starts a series of minus afternoon low tides and then again for the week starting on the 20th of December, there are some great tidal swings.  We have a west swell out of 268º at 2.6' and it was a tad bigger than that, with some fat ones peaking up outside...  Fun south pier, with Caroline, Sergio, Doc Scale, Sean, Danny Connell and the Professor...

When folks asked why we didn't go out on Friday after the storm, there were two good reasons.  1. There was a lot of residual bump on the swell.  2. The drains looked like this (#2).  That's dog shit, motor oil, brake dust, smog, cigarette butts and other detritus/flotsam...

But Mr. Stutzcanhang went out and got one of these at the pier (#3).  He's on his new secret Barahona double-ender...  That's all we know...
STOP THE PRESSES!  In the midst of typing those very words, we got a missive in the form of an Instagram that identifies Mr. S's board as a "Piglet" (#4).  If you're interested in something shorter, but not "short", with great handling ability and a full plan shape, this might be your board...

Parking!  What the fuck!  The movie people scarcely out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday are back on 10th and 11th St. with a vengeance.  Maybe the plan might be to try Longfellow in the morning...  We will check south to Hermosa and report...  They actually forced Brother's to close this morning!  The nerve!

Lost Boys & Co... P rofessor, This is a shot taken last week at a secret spot that is less than 30 miles away from you guys. Any guesses?  My buddy Dave sent it from Salta Verde Point on the backside of Catalina. Only accessible by boat or if you know someone with the key. Tip: The guy in the pic is the guy with the key! Sea Wolf... S o, apparently if you decide to leave Avalon and head to the backside you might score on a south swell.  For some reason this place looks like there might be some rocks on the inside.  No indications of that other than the boils following the guy with the key... C loudless skies this morning with 20+miles visibility.  Winds were off to 2.2kts and the sea surface had a residual bump that held all day.  The air temperature was 79.3˚ and the water was 66.4˚, apparently affected by the wind and upwelling.  High tide was at 6:55am +3.9' and low tide will be at 11:46am +2.8' for a little less than a foot differential.  There's a SW swell out of

Not Forest Hills Friday Surf & Culture Report

W ho's behind those Foster-Grants?  Well, we'll bet that he's NEVER worn a pair of F-G's.  Are those Oliver People's?  Cartier's, Garrett Leight's?  We'll say Tom Ford's and he should be their poster boy.  Yep, it's Jetski in the arena at the US Open.  Looking rather trim in his court-side togs, we're waiting for his description of the action... W e continue our assault on some of the smallest waves ever ridden!  We'll have to check the Guinness book, but we think we're on to something.  So it was ten miles visibility under partly cloudy skies and winds were offshore by 5 to 7kts.  The3 air temp was 63.9º and the water was 70.7º at the ever popular #46221 Santa Monica Buoy.  High tide was at 11:01am +5.5' and low tide follows at 4:52pm +0.7'.  It turns out we observed that low tide and even with the afternoon south wind howling around 10kts, Sapphire still looked fairly smooth.  We had a south swell out o
