Not THAT Sick Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Having a cold at any time of year is no fun, but especially when the surf is good...  That's been a problem.  The Professor decided to take a selfie of his throat and then enlarged it (#1) leading a few folks to comment that he might have gotten the bug in El Salvador...

The hardest part of writing a report on the conditions is when you don't actually look at the surf...  But we have technology that allows us to be able to stay in our crib and report what's going on out there.  So there's not much wind and it looks like about 10 miles visibility.  The air temp was 50.2 and the water is miraculously still in the 60's at 61.9.  High tide was at 6:50am +6.3' and low tide follows at 1:55pm -0.6'.  The buoy is reporting a WSW swell out of 252º at 4.6' and we've confirmed with on-site chiropractor, Doc Scale, that it's 4' to 5'...  He says he might have a go at Sapphire later...

The ever popular Billy LaFay (#2) scarfing a bit of brekky.  Honestly, before we knew him he used to scare us.  Bud Stevenson adopted him when his father and mother died.  When the minister asked the 10 year old Billy what religion his parents were, for a proper sendoff, he said he wasn't sure, but he thought they were "Prostitutes."  He grew up with Mike Stevenson and Alf Laws, so his surfing pedigree was firmly established.  He was a lifeguard for a while and then seriously got into sailing and boating of all stripes.  He was the main man on the "Disappearance" and basically nothing happens near the harbor without him knowing about it.  The best part is that if you name anyone who has anything to do with surfing or sailing Billy knows him.  Jimmy Buffet: check, Hap Jacobs: check, Joey Cabell: check, Skipper Fats: check, Walt Phillips: check... keep going...

This "Constructive Eating" set (#3) was designed for children, but we couldn't imagine the kids having all the fun.  It comes in Safety Orange with Caterpillar yellow utensils.  Our favorite is the bulldozer blueberry, pea, pearl onion, pusher.  If you're going to just push your vegetables around, this is absolutely the way to do it.  There's also a fork-lift and front loader spoon.  The plate and utensils are sold separately, so make sure you order all the pieces you need...  The veggies and fruit are up to you... as well as the engine noises...
