Le Style, C'est L'Homme Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Some good waves this morning and Frankie Volk (#1) was having a good time  on the north side of the pier.  Some folks gave him grief that he wasn't on the nose.  Well, we suggest that he was technically on the nose ( 3' from the tip), but wasn't hanging any toes.  Certainly a functional maneuver and in many cases generates more speed than actually being on the tip...

Cloudy this morning belying the excellence of the surf.  Winds were out of the NE by 3kts and the sea surface was smooth and remained so for most of the day.  The air temperature was 53.7 and the water was 62.6, but the clouds kept things a bit cool.  High tide was at 11:13 am +4.7' and low tide will be at 7:00pm +0.5' as the tides begin to flip for next week's king tides and minus lows.  We have a west swell out of 271º at 4.3' and it was 4' to 5', again moving a lot of water through the middle and inside.  We have differing opinions on what the swell will be doing over the next few days.  Most indicators call for a bit smaller waves, but the word on the beach is that a combo north and west swell is headed our way.  Despite the conflict we'll check it in the a.m. and we'll send a not to the Sruf Familia...  or as Ed would say "?"

Sapphire had some sweet ones yesterday and Bacallao and the Professor (#2) managed to have it to themselves for the better part of an hour.  Upon exiting the water the Professor suggested that José might do a thorough examination of his fins.  It looked like he got smacked in the shorebreak and took out his side-bites.  We have resin to believe...

Always good in a clutch... (#3)

Greenbelt on Friday for the Hora de Fiesta.  Cinco y media for our Spanish speaking friends and 5:30 in gringo lingo...  We're always looking for Happy hour possibilities, so if you have a suggestion, please send it to us.  Yoshi and LoLa typically make the decision on Tuesday morning, but it's never too late...  Also we got a thank you note from Patrick Malloy himself, thanking the Lost Boys for making the scene last week.  He waned to make sure we had a good time and that the food and drink were great.  We told him that maybe we needed one more martini to make sure the gin wasn't bruised...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
