A Theoretical Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

The forecast (#1) tells us that the size of the surf is going to remain about the same, but the wind event that we experienced today might both affect the water temp (cool it down a couple of degrees) and the shape of the surf.  Capitán Donaldo thinks that it will help add some peakiness to the playing field.  Let us hope that he's right!

If you were checking it out this morning, you might have seen outsides that looked like #2.  A block long wall of water that managed to strike fear into the hearts of even the most steadfast gladiators.  It was partly cloudy and 10 miles visibility.  Winds were off by 3 to 5kts and the sea surface was smooth until mid-day when it turned and was funneling through at 15 to 20kts.  The air temp was 48.2º and the water is still holding at 59.2º.  High tide was at 10:15am +6.2' and low tide follows at 5:42pm -0.9'.  The swell claimed to be out of the west (266º) at 3.3', but it was 4' to 6' and thumping like in #3...

So there's wind and there's swell, where the hell do you go to get some cleaner lines?  Well, exactly like in the old days these two surfers decided that inside the Horseshoe Pier (#4) might be the ticket.  We have no idea if anyone hassled them, but we watched for a few minutes and they got a couple of good ones worth the effort...
