A Merry Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Santa came early to Burnsy this year!  In a turn of events that suggested she should buy a couple of lottery tickets, Burnsy won this hot pink surfboard (#1) in a raffle to aid breast cancer awareness.  She received no small amount of advice on how many fins to employ, size and shape of fins and position of her feet.  Here she is (#2) with her retinue of advisors...

Meanwhile we were trying to make the surf look good while watching Trevor Russell get worked while his mother was trying to get him out of the water and back to school.  9 miles visibility under cold cloudy skies and the wind stayed offshore all day long.  The air was 50.0º at checkout and the water dropped a degree to 59.7º.  High tide was at 5:36am +5.3' and low tide will be at 12:21pm +1.0'.  It was a SW swell out of 233º at 3.3' and it was 3' to 5' and designed to lop your head off if you couldn't duck fast enough...  Supposed to rain like hell tomorrow...

Bing/Rick Surfboards on the Strand next to where GoodStuff is today (#3).  Check out how high the sand was against the wall.  During storms the water used to come over the wall and flood the Strand...

The Jacobs Surf Team (#4) We went to school with Alf Laws in the back and you'll immediately recognize Robert August from the Endless Summer on the right.  At the bottom is a very young Donald Takayama...

We'll be touring Manhattan (the New York version) and New Jersey for our upcoming article on the eastern seaboard and how to avoid frostbite on Fridgidia.  Then we're off to Boise for the Christmas Holiday and then back home for New Year's!  Stay tuned, we're here until Thursday...
