It's Our Fault Friday Surf Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Okay, not much to see here (#1)...  Yeah, well, that's not quite the case.  That sharp rise to the left is on the Pacific Tectonic Plate moving toward the east.  Where we're standing is on the Continental Plate that is catching the Pacific Plate.  That oasis of palm trees is growing up through the crack in the earth that has exposed water rich strata.  Well, what the hell do they call this area anyway?  Friends, this geological curiosity is the San Andreas Fault!  Yes, the very fault that folks believe will be home to the "Big One" and certainly numerous little ones.  Can we go now...

Low tide this morning at 8:41am +2.8' and it was a bit dredgy (#2).  High tide is at 2:06pm +4.4' and it's a matter of when the wind will turn.  In the AM it was offshore by 4 to 5kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was pretty chilly at 48.1º and the water felt downright cozy at 60.1º.  We have a SW swell out of 230º at 4.3' and it was 4' to 5' in Hermosa and a little longboard friendlier at Sappharua...

When your old friend Mark comes by and you don't have enough money to leave him a tip after he fixes your bus, you break out the Bumbu (#3)...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
