Need A Bigger Pump Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Grabbed this screen shot (#1) from the SurfLine™ cam on the southside of the Hermosa Pier.  It's raining, the surf is pumping through and the lifeguard parking lot is under water.  At this point just a little under knee high, but they're doing their best to move the water to points lower than the lot.  Hard to tell if it was the outfall backing up or the high tide drove all that water around the berm and into the parking lot...  Don't know if they forgot to clear the drain or it's just something you don't do in January without a directive...

So you got the raining part, just under a mile visibility and overall smooth seas.  Winds are consistent offshore averaging about 12kts, with the surface slightly abraded.  The air temperature at checkout was 57.3º and the water is 59.9º.  High tide was at 6:30am +6.0' and low tide will be at 2:02pm -1.0'.  Some big tidal swings this week, so expected some coastal flooding.  It's a WSW swell out of 259º at 5.2'.  Surf is in the 5' to 7' range and forecast to remain about the same through Wednesday.
