Between The Ides & St. Patrick's Day Tuesday Surf & Culture Report (Take Two)

Lost Boys & Co...

#1) We have yesterday's Sapphire Crowd-Cam suggesting that there are waves as far out as you wished to paddle.  If you didn't batten down your hatches, you can now look for them in Eastern Torrance...

Sub-Commandanté, Bacallao (#2) surveying the playing field this morning from the Pier at Hermosa (the) Beach.  +20 miles visibility under cloudless skies.  Yesterday's winds did a 180 and it was from the NE this morning at 5.2kts.  A rolling sea surface and chilly water at 55.9º for this season's low temperature.  The air was also brisk at 47.9º.  High tide is at 11:41am +4.0' and low tide will be at 5:32pm +1.0'.  Currently we have an 8' to 10' surf running and some of the outsides are double-overhead.  To give you some perspective photo #3 shows three trusty warriors making their way out through the relentless lines of surf.  There's about 50 yards between each of them, maybe more and not many breaks in the action.  The best approach we watched was Chris Rodriguez, who hugged the pier and managed to take the escalatór de agua out to the third-reef Office...

But the wave of the morning might have been this one (video) by our hero, Christiano Stutzcanhang, as he broached this ledging right all the way to the middle before wisely kicking out.  Remember, all of this and it was cold too!
