Mustachio Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Until recently, it never really struck us as to how far a municipality might go to emblazon it's name on public property.  Here we have two of our favorite cities showing their mastheads on your basic manhole covers.  That got us to noticing many of the covers that adorn the access to the netherworld of underground utilities.  There are tons of them!  So this week we're going to feature some of this utilitarian ornamentation.  When you start to notice them, you'll find there are really some artistic pieces out there.  And it's not like you have to collect anything and put it on your wall.  They're out there, waiting to be appreciated once you step outside!

Still windier than shit out there today!  The hawk is out of the west by 19.4kts and gusting to over 25.  The skies are clear and we have maximum visibility (at least 25 miles.)  The sea surface is choppy with considerable whitecaps.  At checkout time the air temperature was 53.6° and the water was 59.5°.  Low tide was early this morning at 2:25am +4.8' and high tide will be at 10:56am +0.4', effectively leaving us with only one tide today.  Tomorrow starts a string of minus tides in the afternoon, so check before you head out.  The buoy is reading a 7.2' swell out of the west at 261°.  We're calling it 5' to 7' and wild and woolly.  A good day for a hot choco as you check it out from the comfort of a hot car...

Hey with all the cuts in the budgets, I believe that contraption is an Olympic Gymnastic training facility!
(Hmmm, maybe so.  It's a little shallow to be a platform for the diving team.  Ed.)
