Tower of Babel Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Water, water, everywhere... but how does it get there?  Well, it travels around quite a bit underground.  This just happens to be one of the places they monitor it.

Meanwhile, rolling around on the street we have 20 miles visibility, under partly cloudy skies.  Winds are offshore by 5.7kts and the sea surface is smooth.  The air temperature is a chilly 46.9° and the water is 59.4°.  Low tide is at the south end of the morning at 11:54am -0.2' and high tide will be at 6:55pm +3.2'.  The buoy is reading a west swell out of 266° at 3.9' and the surf is 3' to 4'.  Most of the folks thought it was going to be quite a bit bigger, if not better.  We'll have to wait and see if things get better arranged on Wednesday morning.

Our second shot is yesterday about 3:30pm at Manhattan Beach.  As you recall the winds had been on-shore all day and then suddenly as the front passed through, things changed around about 180°.  The temps went up about 10° in an hour and the winds howled offshore.  We took this snap of the manes just south of the pier.

Note:  Tomorrow, will be the last formal day for the report this week.  We'll be heading down to Puerto Escondido, and checking out the "Mexican Pipeline."  You noticed we said, "checking out" and not riding.  Actually, we are taking our equipment, but if it's 20' we'll be taking pictures.  They tell us that there are a couple of places down the beach from the premier spots, that actually have more forgiving, longboard waves.  Look for us there...
