Thalassocrat Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Larry Moch sent in our first photo today.  Take a look and cast your vote...  We're thinking it might be Tyler Russell getting a little air on this little wave.  Actually, this wave is little only when considering how big it's been lately!  Tell us if you recognize the featured surfer!

Another beautiful day!  20 miles visibility, with some high clouds scudding along the ether.  Winds have been off all day, blowing 7.4kts at checkout, with the sea surface smooth and rolling.  The air temp was a chilly 48.9°, but better than yesterday's 41.2°.  The water remains relatively toasty at 58.6°.  High tide is at 7:25am +5.6' and low tide will follow at 2:27pm -0.6'.  The buoy is reading a 3.3' swell out of the west at 270° and we're calling it 3' to 4' and excellent shape.  We surfed Hermosa, ninth and a half street and it looked like the wave machine had just been oiled.  There were even a couple of cylinders, if you could make yourself small enough.

Two more shots from the Ice Carnival in McCall, including kayaking on the Payette River and a dance hall girl in a typically frigid pose.  Or maybe she was a Can-can girl, who couldn't...

Finally,  We just received a note that Boomfwappa will be playing Keegan's again on the 19th.  Now, you can't always expect such a brilliant time, but you will recall that Flashbak's last outing was rather entertaining.  "They were fun to dance to and had a good beat..."  Famous Hooks

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
