Fistulus Withers Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Yep, you gotta like the way they do some things in Idaho.  Like the way they put the kids in these big bubbles and let them play in the water without getting wet.  No muss, no fuss and no water born bacteria to cause those fistulous withers we were talking about.  After a while the kids just run out of air and kinda collapse on their own.  Sort of automatic shrink wrapping.  In a way it's funny - here we've been telling them not to put plastic over their heads and now we're escorting them into an entire bubble!

Don't forget July 4th at the Professor's!  5pm until the Tiki torches light and the fireworks begin at the beach!  Lots of Linguiça, drink and good company!  Your chance to be Portuguese for a few hours...  Be there or be northern European!

So all of that swell swell activity we've been having has been dying down.  The morning started out overcast and gray, with 10miles visibility.  Winds were pretty much onshore from the get-go with a light tack on the water.  The air temperature was 59.6° and the water was 63.9°.  High tide was at 8:58am +3.5' and low tide was at 1:20pm +2.2'.  The buoy was reading a 2.6' swell out of the W 265° and we're calling it 1' to 3' if you're lucky and patient.  Hermosa looked better than Torrance and the avenues, but it also got windy sooner.  As usual we are in the midst of the June Gloom, which means that the weather is changing around to the summer cycle.  Soon there should be increased southern swells, so get ready!

Finally, we snapped this shot of this tank in the Emmet town square.  Emmet appears to be ready should the conquering hoards reach the town center.  The closeup shows the almost artistic metal work on the front drivers.  This might be the last thing the Vandals get a look at as you're rolling over their sorry asses...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
