Thinner Thursday Surf & Culture Report & July 4th Invitation

Lost Boys & Co...

Even though we suggested that we would include a July 4th Invitation yesterday, we didn't manage to fit it in.  So here's the scoop:

4th of July Linguiça Feed & Gathering of the Tribes
5:00pm Sunday July 4th (until the sun goes down)
At the Professor's
516 Paseo de las Estrellas - Redondo Beach 90277
310-373-5138
(If you feel the overwhelming desire to bring something
how about an appetizer?  Margot:  Chocolate Lush!)

A
gorgeous morning greeted the surfistas as they made their way to the water.  15 miles visibility and clear sunny skies, after a brief skirmish with some low clouds at daybreak.  Winds were offshore by 5.1kts and the sea surface was smooth to glassy, before the onshores kicked up around 9:30am.  The air temp was 62.1° and the water was 64.9° staying above 65 for the rest of the day.  Low tide was at 8:01am -0.3' and high tide will follow at 2:56pm +4.5'.  The buoy was reading a W swell out of 259° true at 3.0' and we caught some excellent Torrance Beach with TJ and Luke that was 3' and few 4' outsides.  Luke had TJ's magic board and was really cutting some mean turns and wiggles, as well as noseriding on some long walls to the inside sand bar.  Fun morning - check it out tomorrow!

Our photographs today feature the creature from the Topaz Lagoon.  The first pic is a close-up of the critters stony exterior, fraught with divots, barnacles and volcanic looking structures.  The Professor corralled this beast as it was clicking down the Esplanade eating cars and spitting out the tires.  Scary, but not as scary as that seal thing...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
