Green Flash Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

L
ook at that!  A brand spanking new U.S. blank, ready to be shaped into the surfboard of your dreams.  Actually, the Professor's dreams to be exact.  Ché, has told him that he can use his bay to shape it and the Professor is a bit giddy with the possibilities.  We'll keep you apprised...

Today, by our calculations is the 7th day of summer.  These are days when the haze burns off like it's supposed to do and you could theoretically, go to the beach.  So even though the day dawned overcast and gray it cleared up around 10:30am.  At checkout we had 1½ miles visibility and considerable haze.  Winds were calm and the sea surface was smooth to a very light cats paw on the water.  The air temp was 61.3° and the water was 60.1° with a 62° warm spot here and there.  High tide was at 8:29am +3.5' and low tide will follow at 12:30pm +2.7'.  The swell remains out of the SSW 200° at 2.6' and we're persisting in calling it 1' to 3' and poor to fair shape.  We caught some fun ones this morning, but it wasn't as consistent as earlier in the week.

Our second photo is a shot at capturing the elusive green flash.  We're going to suggest that the atmospheric conditions weren't optimum for this attempt.  We shall step up our endeavors...
