Team Outrigger Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

So, there are people that you expect to see when you travel thousands of miles on vacation, like the Honu Lani O Kei Kai outrigger team.  Featuring the Professor, Savannah, LoLa, Donna & Boomfwappa, they managed to uphold the family tradition of talking more than paddling.  "Look!  There's a turtle!  He's passing us up!  Shut up and paddle!"  Then there are people you thought you might run into like the young Miloes, Mary, Jenna, Paul & Thomas.  Thanks to them the Professor got a sweet ride to enjoy Rockpiles on and some great plate lunch afterwards!  Then, there are total surprises, like walking along the beach at Waikiki and finding Murphy trying to hide behind this leaf - no, wait...  that was on the Manoa Valley hike when he was doing his impersonation of an elephant with a missing ear...  Thanks to Murphy we got to see some of "hidden" Waikiki.  We're thinking that might be his next career!

Sun's up in the South Bay this morning!  14 miles visibility and only a slight haze impairing the view.  Winds started out onshore early by 3.2kts and the sea surface is still smooth.  The air temperature is a cool 63.5° and the water is negligibly warmer at 63.9°.  High tide is at 10:11am +4.7' and low tide will be at 3:42pm +1.5'.  We have a swell that's supposed to show some signs of increasing today, but currently stands at 2.6' out of the SSW at 194°.  Tide and swell direction make it around 2' and not very good at the moment...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
 The Professor!!
