Lost Boys & Co...

What looks to be a normal bar of "Sex Wax ™" upon closer inspection reads "SWELL," which just happens to be the name of the surfing art show at the Petzel Gallery in N.Y.C.  They had all these wax bars made up with their information as swag for the opening night.  Pretty cool, huh...  Wonder if they would do that with "Lost Boys" on them... ?

Trying desperately to be another summer day (this would be #9 by our calculation.)  Overcast in the morning, burning away to partly cloudy and then clear skies with a fog layer hanging out about 3 miles.  Winds are out of the SSW by 1.5kts and the sea surface was glassy to a light tack.  The air temperature was 59.9° and the water reads 61.9° at the buoy.  High tide is at 9:57am +4.6' and low tide will be at 3:07pm +1.5'.  The buoy is reading a SSW swell out of 211° at 2.3'.  We're calling it 1' and poor.  We took advantage of the smooth seas to do a bit of paddling this morning.  Lots of fishies and dolphins cruising around, but not that much seaweed to be in the way.  It's funny how on the paddle out it seems like your goal is pretty clear, but when you turn around it's like:  "Whoa!  I gotta make sure I get this right..."

Re: Photos from Sandy Hook, NJ.
Cool pics! I can see the Empire State Building but, the parachute drop-eh, not so much.
That beach is gorgeous. Brings back memories of beaches from my youth. That fencing, especially, and the grass growing through sand. I never knew what the fencing was for.
Even the beaches on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario resemble this one. Except there are 'ripples' not "swells."
Thanks for sharing :)
