Extremely Loud & Incredibly Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Sometimes one wonders where people get the inspiration for mythical characters.  In the case of Dr. Seuss we submit the Lorax for your consideration.  Then, with equal gravity, we submit this photo of the Professor.  We wonder no longer...

Hazy sun this morning without the intensity of yesterday's mid-winter sol invictus and 15 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore at 5.2kts until around 11am, when they made an abrupt switch from the east to the WSW.  The air temp was 51.4° and the water is 58.3°.  High tide is at 10:25am +5.1' and low tide will follow at 4:46pm -0.1'.  The buoy is reading a WSW swell out of 257° at 4.3' and we're calling it 3' to 5' with some thicker waves outside...

The Hennessey Cup (named after Leonardo Hennessey who discovered Hermosa Beach, originally calling it "Wally-Crashy") is tomorrow at the Hermosa Pier (southside.)  If you've never been to a surf contest this is the perfect time for you to check it out.  Various combinations of girls, boys, longboards, shortboards and bodyboards will disport themselves in the breakers.  Hi-ho!  Starts at 8am.

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
 The Professor!!
