Mandrake Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

The sun dawns over a partly cloudy Hermosa Beach sky...

Getting cloudier as the day progresses, but good lateral visibility around 20 miles.  Winds were off at checkout by 3.7kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was cool at 50.1° and didn't hurry up getting warm.  The sea temperature was 58.1°.  High tide was at 7:43am +6.1' and low tide will be at 2:42pm -0.9'.  The buoy is reading a WSW swell out of 241° at 3.6' and we're calling it 3' to 5' depending on where you happen to be.  (Topaz and Sapphire were out, Burnout was 3' and Hermosa and points north were 5'.)  Rain possible tonight or tomorrow - check the wind and surf conditions to make your best guess...

Always a good time when you hit the water for the first surf lesson!  #2 is cousin Ben feeling the stoke and planting a smile that lasted the rest of the day.  #3 is Ben's friend Travis doing a "leaning tower of Pisa" bottom turn.  In their early 20's and good athletes, they were quick studies.  They're ready for lesson #2!
