Cinco De Mayo Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

You know how you always say, "Yeah, all that "hoo-do" stuff is just superstition."  For some reason when these ladies called us over to have our fortunes read we all ran the other way...  Could'a been the cigar, that's always a clincher...

Cloudy skies this morning and 10 miles visibility.  Winds were blustery out of the southeast at 4.5kts and the seas surface was a bit bumped.  The air temperature was 57.5˚ and the water was 61.0˚ (the winds been blowing on it all day so don't be surprised if it takes a drop.)  Low tide was at 9:01am +0.6' and high tide was at 4:38pm +3.4'.  We have a WSW swell out of 257˚ at 3.3' and it was 3' to 4' this morning.  Supposed to blow to almost 20kts tomorrow afternoon, so hit it before the wind event...

We might have forgotten to mention the "Cocotaxis."  They're everywhere around Havana and ditch in and out of traffic in the most unpredictable ways.  We took this photo from a speeding Lada.  Meaning the taxis were going 25mph and the Lada was gaining on them at 27mph...

Finally, in the "Hotel Nacional."  A visiting French legation was staying on the third floor and they were flying tri-colored daiquiris at the poolside bar.  Viva La France!
