Tear Gas Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We were somewhat taken aback when we ran into Batman and Catwoman right there on the street at the beginning of the race.  Note to Criminals:  Who was watching Gotham City?  Should you ever feel the spirit move you to run in this race and wear a costume, we suggest wearing something in which you can run.  These orchids (Orchidaceae), were noticeably wilted by mile three and ready for re-potting by the end of the race...

Spring is the season when the winds are most capricious.  They started things out onshore and only got stronger during the day, leading to white capped seas and choppy conditions.  Clear skies and 15 miles visibility.  The air temperature was 57.5˚ and the water was 64.2˚ (until that wind does it's job on the upwelling.)  Low tide was at 9:01am -0.2' and high tide will be at 4:02pm +4.2'.  We have a SSW swell out of 206˚ at 4.9' and it's a mixed-up 3' to 5'.  Maybe mañana.  The winds are supposed to turn around...  Sunrise 5:49am and sunset is at 7:50pm.

To pound out some encouragement this group of Taiko drummers set up on a curve for maximum effect...
