Taking Credit For Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Some edificios in today's report!  Number one is the "Hotel Nacional," which also hosts the premier "Bay of Pigs" exhibit.  Today the bay is known as Playa Giron (which it's probably always been called, but Bay of Pigs spins better in the US.)  The hotel is a four star affair and overlooks the bay and the Malecon.  A bit spendy, but it would be nice for a special occasion.  The Parisian Review is in the nightclub out front...

You could tell it was going to blow from the get-go.  4kts from the west at checkout and it's been gusting up to 21kts most of the day.  20+ miles visibility and some clouds flitting by at a rapid rate.  The air temperature is 55.1˚ and the water was 62.4˚ and has been falling all day long with the windblown upwelling (3pm 59.5˚.)  Low tide is at 10:06am +0.8' and high tide is at 5:35pm +3.7'.  There's a west swell out of 275˚ at 3.9', rising throughout the day (3pm 7.9').  Waves have gone from 4' this morning to 6' to 8' this afternoon.  Unless the wind starts to abate soon, expect rough conditions in the morning!

Number 2.  This was the only time someone said, "Don't take a picture of that!"  This is the RUSSIAN EMBASSY.   We have no idea why you shouldn't take a photo of it and meanwhile we were told that they were taking photos of US!  So we figured turnabout was fair play...  Of course we'd like to see the photos they took of us...  Vladimir?

With all the drama, we retired to the "Factoria de Cerveza" (#3) back at the plaza downtown.  One of the first microbreweries, bet us that this is going to catch on quick...
