Manuel Paine Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

In El Salvador during Holy Week ("Semana Santa") they do the Stations of the Cross through the streets of Metápan.  At each of the Stations they pause and say prayers that describe the trek of Christ to Calvary.  As they carry the palanquin which features Christ with a cross, they stop on these murals done with flower petals, leaves and other organic materials.  It takes them a few hours to execute these works of art and then the procession grinds them to their component parts...  Like "Remember man that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return..."

Hot tamales this morning, with clear skies and 20+ miles visibility.  Winds were off with a vengeance at 10kts and the sea surface had a definite ripple going out.  The air was a warm 72.5˚ and the water was 60.6˚, with some spikes into the mid-sixties all day long.  High tide was at 9:28am +4.1' and low tide was at 2:42pm +1.3'.  We have a SSW swell out of 207˚ at 2.3' and it's 1' and less on the beach...  Not looking stellar for the rest of the week, but maybe a little wind action might stir things up...
