Moon Over Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We actually ate in this place that advertised "tlayudas."  Tlayudas are 12" tortillas that are folded over your choice of meat, chicken or fish and roasted with veggies and all the fixin's.  Tasty and not quite a tostada, but heartier than a taco...

Drizzling this morning with 3 miles visibility and clouds to the deck.  Winds were light out of the NE, but the sea surface had a bit of a bump.  The air temperature was 58.3º and the water was 60.1º.  Low tide was at 7:09am +0.8' and high tide was mid-day at 1:21pm +3.1'.  We have a building swell out of the west 262º that started at 2.6' this morning and is now 6.3' and building throughout the night.  Could get to 11', but the wind is also scheduled to ramp up and things look a bit dicey for the morning.  Northwester up to 25kts mañana is the report...  Check'em out...

This was the place we stayed in Chacahua, "Ishamar's."  The best part of this sign was that they used an Al Merrick board for the lower part.  Not quite sure that they knew what they had before they started pounding nails in it and painting the ads...  We never found Ulises to ask him...

This guy was shrimping along the edge of the mangrove swamp.  These boats look like they're based on the earlier dugouts that the fishermen used before plywood and fiberglass.  They have that same narrow pinched look, that suggests that they used a tree trunk.  Some of these have small outboards, like this one, but most of them have rough-hewn oars that look like they carved themselves...
