Thanks For The Tip Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

This is what happens when you listen to Finley tell you that it's head high...  Well, it WAS by her measure.  In #3 the Professor scrunched up trying to get it overhead, but it wasn't quite working out.  Actually, we had gone to this spot because it was a marine preserve and we were going to do some snorkeling.  But the longer we stood there and watched this little waves pulse through, the more we thought it might be worth a go-out.  The water was crystal clear, it's was 80 degrees and there was this offshore zephyr blowing softly out to sea.  The other thing was that just about 200yds down the road was the end of the preserve...  Thanks to "Mike the Fish Slayer" we had some great fishies that night...

Hazy skies this morning and 10 miles visibility.  Winds were out of the SE by 2.9kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was 57.3º and the water is 61.7º, but they posted a 64º at the Hermosa Pier.  Low tide was at 11:57am +0.4' and high tide will follow at 6:41pm +3.3'.  Starting tomorrow the tides flip and we'll have some better high tides in the am.  Of course the word for the week has been "warbley," which seems to perfectly describe the morning sickness we've been seeing.  This morning there was a WSW swell out of 257º at 3.3' and it was 3' to 4', but with a distinct "warble."  Lots of backwash, fluky waves and shallow sand bars designed to interrupt your flow...  You don't want that..

So we're driving around Bridgetown, the capitol of Barbados, looking for the Museum of Barbados.  It turns out this is the capitol building and the Prime Minister has his offices there.  So Mike and Finley decided they should see if the Prime Minister was in.  They walked up to the front desk and the lady there says, "May I help you?"
Mike & Finley:  "Yes, is the Prime Minister here?
Lady:  "Excuse me a moment"  (She walks around the desk and cranes her neck to look in the parking lot.)  "I don't see his car at the moment, I'm sure he's out to lunch.  I expect him back at 2pm."
M &F:  "Thank you very much, we just though we might catch him today..."

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
 The Professor!!
