Lost Boys & Co...

Lots of milestones throughout our surfing lives.  On day 243 of her run at 366, Morgan Sliff bought in a cake to celebrate Boris "Jetski" Vishnevsky's first year of surfing.  A quick calculation had Jetski at about 200+ days in the surf this past year.  His presence in the water has been uplifting to say the least.  His good humor, camaraderie and skill are a pleasure to behold...

After yesterday's wind we had clear skies and 15 miles visibility.  Winds were relatively light out of the NE at 3.0kts and there was a slight bump on the water.  The air temperature was a chilly 53.6º and the water got knocked down a degree to 59.7º.  High tide was at 10:01am +4.8' and low tide will be at 4:10pm +0.3'.  We had a west swell out of 269º at 5.9' and it was a solid 4' to 6' on the beach...  Some of the shortboarders like Kyle Beatty were making it look fun, but it didn't look longboard friendly...  Let's look mañana...

On our ride out to Chacahua the lagoon is always a great place to do some bird watching.  In this case we motored past a rookery of Mexican Black Billed Cranes.  Not unlike pelicans, they looked a bit prehistoric...

Once you get to the end of the lagoon you jump off the boat and into the river to get a quick ride out to the surf.  Donnie and the Professor dodged shoals and some deep eddies and made it out in record time.  Last year they paddled through a bait ball in the middle of the river and got pummeled with what they initially thought were flying piranhas!  Turned out to be little stripers who were only looking for earlobes...  Yow-zum...
