Squeaky Fromme Friday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

The moment we've been prayer for all these long years....

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Charles Manson follower convicted of trying to assassinate President Gerald Ford was released Friday from a Texas prison hospital after more than three decades behind bars.

Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, 60, left the Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth at about 8 a.m. Friday, spokeswoman Dr. Maria Douglas said. Though a few photographers had camped out since the night before outside the facility surrounded razor wire-topped fences, Fromme slipped by the group unnoticed in one of the many cars streaming in and out of the front gate Friday morning.

(Lynette was a two years ahead of us at Redondo High.  Of course she was known as Lynette "Fro-may" instead of the vulgar Fromm.  She was one of those English lit. majors who hung with all the intellectuals.  We, of course, were not in that circle.  We were several circles lower, usually characterized with Hell in the title...)

Turning out to be a beautiful morning with 10 miles visibility and partly sunny skies.  Winds are calm and the sea surface is smooth.  The air temp is 62.3° and the water is 66.4°.  High tide is at 4:10pm and there are no other tides.  None.  The next low is at 12:23am +0.4' on the 15th.  The buoy is reading a 2.0' swell out of 196° (SSW.)  We're calling it 1' to 2' and poor.

It was a good morning for some surf instruction and we had Tiger Delameter and Jeremiah "Sabado Gigante" Woolsley.  They both had a great time and both are full of stoke.  Of course the breakfast wasn't bad either.

Letters:

Hi Frank and Annie,
Returned last night from King's canyon with the Ball family. The meteor shower was very visible from where we viewed it-up at Knapps Cabin. We saw several meteor's and at least 4 very big ones with very defined heads aglow and the stream of their tails appearing as they sped across the sky! This was before midnight on Wednesday night.
It was also just before the big Mama Bear arrived in my campsite! We have a couple of stories! It was a great time of hiking (and learning exactly how out of shape I am), stargazing, cooking on the fire, relaxing, and watching the river flow (my favorite :)
I just love being there.
Best,
Carol

Finally, a nice Mohawk of a backwash in just the right light...
