Cold Ass Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We took this pic of a leaf in Boise last week.  Good thing we did - everything is getting covered with snow today!  We contacted Allison Wonderland and she verified that it was indeed snowing.  Not to be outdone, our water temps took a dive - from 67.1° on Monday to 56.8° today!  That's a 10.3° drop.  Not only did we have to wear a long suit, booties are now the order of the day.

A beautiful day despite the drop in temps, with 20 miles visibility and clear skiesWinds were offshore this morning, by 3.2 kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was a brisk 50.5° and the water was the aforementioned freeze-ass 56.8°.  High tide was at 7:20am +5.0' and low tide will follow at 1:34pm +1.5'.  We're gearing up for some pretty radical tidal swings as we hit daylight savings time head-on.  The buoy is reading a 270° west swell at 4.3' and we're calling the waves 3' to 5'.  We surfed Topaz this morning and some of the peaks ended with some pretty hectic little tubes.  Hectic, COLD, little tubes...

Dress warmly...
