Fire All Thrusters Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

You know DirectBG has it right - nothing says Christmas quite like Macy's - the real Macy's in New York.  Now, we're not talking about the religious/spiritual Christmas.  We're talking about the secular, intensely marketed, gift laden Christmas.  It's also the fun Christmas full of expectations, good food, family and friends.  Hey, it might even be a celebration of the solstice or your own private "Festivus."  Whatever, it's a good time to express a little goodwill to some of your fellows who are also flying through space on this interesting/crazy planet...

Surf is building as we speak!  The day started out with a brilliantly clear atmosphere and visibility was unlimited.  Winds were offshore by 5.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temp was a chilly 52.4° and the water was 59.4°.  High tide was at 8:46am +6.1' and low tide will follow at 4:11pm -0.7'.  The surf is hitting the buoy on a west swell at 276° at 3.9' at checkout time and 4.3' at our last check.  The surf was in the 3' to 5' range and it's supposed to keep building throughout the day.  We went out with Tyrone James at Tres Palmas and caught a few waves, but it was mainly walled and not quite makeable.  Tyrone James put an exclamation point on the day by taking off on his last wave, getting barreled and then bouncing off the bottom just for grins.  He made it look good, too!

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
