Lost Boys & Co...

Yeah, we're back!  Heard we missed some big ones on Sunday, but everyone knows how that works.  Someone had to give it up!  We were up in the Sierras touring in the Honda car with Mr. Monkey.  Damn it, he got saucy on this trip.  It took us about an hour to get him outta the rafters in the Pines Bar.  You'll remember the Pines Bar - that's the place with a "Bass Lake Martini."  It consists of a glass of Pabst Blue Ribbon with an olive in it.  Extremely refreshing after a hot trip down the central valley!

Nice clear morning with around 20 miles visibility.  Offshore winds by 5.2kts and the sea surface remained smooth most of the morning.  The air temperature was 58.6° and the water is barely above 60 at 61.2°.  We didn't think it felt quite that cold...  Big tidal swing with high tide at 7:28am +6.8' and low tide at 2:48pm +1.1'.  The buoy was reading a 3.9' swell almost straight outta the west at 265°.  The surf was a fun 3' to 4' and got better as the tide dropped throughout the morning.  Hermosa was pretty good but the avenues came up later.

We're not going to try and fully explain photo #2.  We will say that it was taken at the annual Bass Lake Tree Lighting Ceremony and that this is the "parade" portion of said festivity.  This is in fact, one-eight of the parade.  It was low-key, lasted about 20 minutes (raffle/parade/tree lighting) and they threw candy from the "floats."  Any resemblance to the Rose Parade was unintended and unwelcomed.  In short, it was our kind of event.
