Total Recall Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Blowing like an S.O.B. out there this morning!  Probably a solid 6 on the Beaufort scale.  Not a gale though...  Here we have a shot of Topaz and Sapphire, which have joined together beyond the jetty to become the mythic Zapot Cloudbreak.  Of the course the shape is for shit, but you get the picture.

At checkout time the visibility was 25 miles and we had an excellent view across the bay.  Some high wispy clouds, but they were few and far between.  No call for rain over the next 24 hours.  Winds are technically considered a "fresh breeze" at 29.1kts to 31.5kts, but not a "gale", which kicks in when the wind hits 62kts.  The air temperature is 50.2° and the water, at the moment is 59.4° (but with all this wind and typical upwelling, you can expect that temp. to drop pretty quick.)  Low tide at 6:23am +2.8' and high tide is medium at 11:47am +4.1'.  The buoy is reading a WNW swell (283°) at 11.2' and the surf looks like it's in the 10' range with bigger sets about every 5 minutes.  A good day to watch...

Re:  Richell will you marry me?
Boomfwappa says:  its RY-SHELL (the sand is silent)....thats what Boomfwappa says

A couple of things:  We'll be heading out on Christmas Day to the wilds of Idaho for our annual visit to the frozen north (and by all accounts it IS frozen!)  So the report will be sporadic (if that.)  We'll be back on New Year's Eve and heading straight over to Kincaid's on the Redondo Beach Pier.  Things start at 4pm or whenever you get there and we watch the sun go down for the last time (weather permitting) at 4:55.

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
