Here We Are Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Three months - bam-zoom - just like that and we're installing Marco on an airplane back to the homeland.  He managed between his hectic work schedule to fit in some great adventures, like running in the SuperBowl 10k with Tia Annie, when he'd been here all of 3 days!  Surfing, skiing, biking and a bit of dancing here and there - yeah - he's the best!  Think he'll be back...?

Hazy sun this morning, with 10 miles visibility.  Winds were slightly offshore at checkout at 1.1kts and the sea surface still has that residual bump from the pm winds.  High tide is at 7:23am +3.9' and low tide will follow at 1:21pm +0.8'.  The buoy is reading a west swell out of 265° true at 3.9'.  We're calling the resulting waves 3' to 4' and looking like a wind-knocked spring morning.  Actually, things might straighten out a bit for the afternoon and the rising tide.  Take a look...

And if you get a chance take a closer look near the end of the Topaz jetty on some of those bigger waves.  There are the beginnings of a blowhole there on the south side.  This shot barely caught a bit of the vapor, but it's there and if you're lucky you'll see it yourself...

Since the Captain of the Portagee team was leaving the rest of the gang headed for Vegas.  But not before the awards were handed out.  He we see the Professor getting the award for the best performance for a Portuguese uncle.  L to R:  Nuno, Marco, the Professor, Davide, Carlos and Luis.
