Mothball Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We went to the Hermosa Beach celebration for the inductees to the "Walk of Fame" Friday night.  We managed to get the attention of the cute Sunday Brother's girl while she was serving the tri-tip burritos.  Yow-zum...  If you want to see some additional photos go to the Spyder/HB Film Fest and Big Wave Challenge Facebook page.  In fact if they have the video of Matt Mohegan, that won first prize, you'll get quite a rush.  On a LEFT he took off on the SOUTH side of the rocks at Hammerland (El Porto.)  You might recall that the jetty used to be quite a bit longer, so there's lots of rocks out there to cause things to peak up.  He takes off and you see him cross the end of the jetty with this huge boil bubbling beneath him.  The entire audience held it's breath until he got to the other side, then they erupted.  Well, everyone except Tyler.  Bet he's seen that boil lots in the past...  Next year...

Mostly clear skies this morning with only 10 miles visibility, making it a pretty typical spring morning.  Winds were offshore at 1.1kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 50.0° and the water was 56.3°.  Like we thought it was gonna get warmer...  Low tide was at 10:59am +0.3' and high tide will be at 6:19pm +3.4'.  The buoy was reading a SSW swell out of 203° at 2.6'.  We thought it was about 2' with some 3' backs.  Some fun ones if you were patient.
