A Bit Tart For A Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

We were in the post office in the International Marketplace and they had these coconuts for sale with various paint jobs on them.  Now who would buy one of these things is anyone's guess, so we decided it would be just as good to take a pic with one.  Since we have so many waterpolo vets out there, we thought it would be cool to use this number.  Can you imagine being hit with a coconut waterpolo ball?  You'd remember that for a looong time or maybe not...

Foggies in all the low places this morning and about a mile visibility.  Winds straight out of the south at 3.3kts and a light chop scudding the surface.  The air temperature was 62.2° and the water was 65.8°.  Kinda chilly without the sun.  Low tide was at 5:39am +0.9' and high tide was at 12:00pm +4.9'.  We have a SSW swell out of 192° at 3.3', but it was aimed straight at our backyard and we're calling it 3' to 4' outside with some nice thick ones on the outside.  Everybody was getting some good ones and Sandy was flying on the new shark-bite model.  When we first paddled out, Hudson, caught a little peeler over at the third dip and casually walked to the nose for a ten second tip ride.  It was stellar!  If he hadn't gotten flushed on the sand bar inside he'd have ridden it all the way to the sand and up and over the jetty.  Wow...

You know how you hang with someone and you never know they have these extraordinary talents?  Well, Sting sent us this little rhyme about Danger Boy.   If he could come up with a chorus I think he might have a hit!

So Danger Boy is bleeding again,
lucky for him it wasn't his fin.
It could have been his board's tail,
but apparently it was an encounter with the rail.
The man has stories that would fill a book,
about adventures that end up with a physician taking a look.
Lucky for him he married a nurse,
I guess that is what is meant by for better or worse.
Since this is nothing new for the man,
I'm sure he had a first-aid kit in his van.
