Oh For Two Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

The Oh family was in front of us at the buffet on Sunday morning and when Eric the host said "Oh for two!" we thought it was pretty clever.  It works for any number as long as you're willing to go "0" for however many you have.  We're not exactly buffet fans, but if you find yourself in Honolulu between 6am and 11am and you need a buffet, we'd recommend the "Shor" at the Hyatt.  As they say in Hawai'i, "Everything you need and more...!"

Photo #1 features the view outside of our room on the 25th floor of the Hyatt (roughly twice as high as our lanai on the 11th floor of the Topaz International Trump Tower Suites!)  At the end of the week we'll fill it in with the swell that came in over the weekend...

Partly cloudy skies this morning, as we found ourselves landing at LAX at 5am from over the ocean.  20 miles visibility, with a bit of haze.  The offshores quickly changed to on by 2.3kts at checkout and a light ripple on the sea surface.  The air temperature was 64.1° and the water at the buoy is 60.6° (as opposed to 81.3° at the Honolulu buoy.)  Low tide is at 5:39am -0.3' and high tide will be at 12:05pm +5.2'.  We currently have a SSW swell out of 199° running at 3.0'.  It's a bit deflected but there are some little ones at 2' to 3' for your surfing amusements.

Photo #2 is at the "Bon Festival" over at the Marriott.  Featuring drummers and dance clubs from all over the Islands, they would dance a number to show off the steps and then invite everyone to join in.  A little more complicated than the Electric Slide, they travel around in a circle and repeat the steps and motions so that by the end of the song you had it down.  As the evening progressed the drumming got louder and the dances more animated, but true to form at 9 o'clock sharp they shut it down and it would have been impossible to tell that anything had gone on at all...
