Martin Luther King Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

A bit of a stormy beginning for a Martin Luther King Monday here in So Cal.  That beaten silver against the dark clouds is always dramatic.  Kinda like Raiders colors...

Cloudy and overcast this morning with a few sprinkles, but still around 20 miles visibility.  Winds were onshore by 7.2kts and the sea surface was significantly choppy.  The air temperature was 52.2° and the water was 58.8°.  Low tide was at 9:47am +1.1' and high tide will be at 3:32pm +3.9'.  The swell is from the WSW 251° at 3.0'.  It's about 2' at most local spots, but should be increasing in size as the front passes.

Photo #2 demonstrates how casual life can be at the nose.  Trevor LaShure gets a high five as he scoots past Devin Nathan at Hermosa Pier.  This move is also good for handing the rider a doughnut, bringing in the catch of the day or swinging 'round the May pole.

Finally, we have the crew at Brother's discussing the news of the day.  Chino is manning the register while Danger Boy, Jimmy Barahona, Ché (who looks like he has a blond ponytail sticking up,) Grant and Chuck try and come to grips with the fact that Tim Tebow is not going to be in the SuperBowl.  This sparked an unusually animated exchange, which included scriptural quotations of dubious origin.  Like we're pretty sure, "What would Tim Tebow do?" isn't in the Bible...
