Walkie-Talkie Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

You get up in the morning, put on your red trunks, slide into your slaps, find your whitest T-shirt, grab your coffee cup, maybe get the visor, but for sure your shades and head down to work.  Photo #1 is where you work.  This is the view.  If you are Don Souther you did this for like, 35 years.  Not bad, for a day job...

Another day of some thin high clouds, but mostly sunny and 10 degrees warmer than yesterday.  22 miles visibility and looking like what most people imagine Southern California to look like.  Winds were lightly offshore by 2.2kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air temperature was 50.5° and the water was 57.6°.  High tide was at 9:58am +5.5' and low tide will be at 4:42pm -0.4'.  The buoy tells us that we continue to have a west swell out of  262° at 4.3'.  It was floating a bit much for Sapphire but lots of other places had waves in the 4' to 5' range including Burnout, Torrance, HB & MB.  Should continue through the weekend if you believe the predictions...

More Kalani...
Surfs 26th Street a lot.
Lives in Venice.
Big Wave Dave
(We thought he lived in Hawaii?   Ed.)

Ahhh Professor; it's way cool to see you look so stoked as in the photo with Kalani...sweet!!
the mar~ (Marion Lagatree)
(Yes, shameless hero worship!  We're also thinking you should really be "De Mar!"   Ed.)

Finally, we have a shot of the bass player in the "Sons of the Portagees."  They play Hawaiian-Portagee Up-Country music.  The bass player isn't very good so they make him stand waaay over deah...
(5th Annual Slack Key Festival at the Redondo Performing Arts Center.  The Professor is actually checking out the tone of this stand-up bass.  The guy makes them and some beautiful ukuleles in Wilmington!...   Ed.)
