Nmemonic Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

On the lookout for surf wherever we travel, we spotted these "waves" on Lake Payette near the west shore of McCall, Idaho.  They've had freezing cold weather, but not much snow, so the ice is buckling and doing all kinds of strange things that usually happen under a blanket of snow.  These waves were about 2 to 3 feet high and were a little walled, but you could make them since they weren't really moving very fast...

So a beautiful So. Cal morning with 20 miles visibility under a hazy smoggy sun.  Winds were offshore at checkout by 3.1kts and the sea surface was smooth to glassy.  The air temperature was 50.6° and the water was 58.5° and it's supposed to cool off as the week unfolds.  High tide at 8:22am +6.3' and low tide will be at 3:41pm -0.1'.  The buoy is reading a west swell out of 262° at 2.6' and we think it looks about 1' to 2' and high tide fat.  We went for a paddle...

Thanks to everyone who made the New Year's Eve soirée.  It was a great evening graced with some new faces and plenty of the old ones.  Same time same place next year...  Rumor has it the Professor is planning an evening of music and hoomalimali soon.  Stay tuned for info...
