Wave Warriors Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

One of the things that keeps you coming back to Brother's Burritos are the guys behind the counter.  Ivan Fernandes always has a smile on his face and a witty quip to get you started on your way.  To top it off, he's a great musician and will keep up with you on any rpm trivia.  But don't even bother with anything about Ozzy - you'll be shut down before you start...

Hazy skies this morning and 15 miles visibility.  Winds were offshore by 3.5kts and the sea surface was smooth, but not quite glassed.  The air temperature was a cool 49.1° and the water was a toe tickling 59.0°.  High tide at 9:47am +5.9' and low tide is at 4:46pm -0.7'.  The buoy is reading a WSW swell out of 252° at 3.6' and it's hitting us with 3' to 5' faces, with an occasional shapely shoulder...  Go gett'em...

The Redondo Surf Team really took it to the competition this morning.  Coach Duncan Avery sent this to us...
In boy's short board, these surfers advanced to round 2:
Luke Meyers
Chris Webb
Mike Okuda
Kenny Okuda
Ethan Pezzolo
Trevor La Shure
Conor Beatty

We had three short boarders advance out of round two and into league finals!
Conor Beatty
Mike Okuda
Trevor La Shure

For Girl's Longboard and Shortboard, we had every girl compete advance to league finals.  I do not know if Redondo has ever done this before.  They put on a great clinic today.
Short Board:
Ailidh Sheldon
Sara Curran
Katie Parkinson

Long Board:
Elle Inscore
Sara Curran
Chanelle Catuagno

For body board, we had two surfers advance to league finals:
Conor Beatty
Trevor La Shure

For Long board, we had all three surfers advance to league finals:
Conor Beatty
Trevor La Shure
David Fillman
(If you missed today's action we'll let you know when the league finals take place, so you can do more than just read about it!   Ed.)
