Farrago Friday Surf & Culture Report

 Lost Boys & Co...

Take a close look at this shot of Burnout.  There's a rip that roaring out to sea at about 10kts.  It looked to be about 50 feet wide and about a quarter of a mile long!  If you had jumped into this thing it would have taken about 2 minutes to be outside, way outside.  By that time you'd be wondering if it were such a great idea in the first place...  but your hair would be dry...

The winds have died and although there's still some residual bumpiness, it looks like we're getting ready to resume our regular weather patterns.  25+ miles visibility under predominantly clear skies.  Winds were from the north at 7.0kts.  The air temp was 46.2˚ and the water is a full 10 degrees warmer at 56.3˚.  High tide was at 8:10am +7.0' and low tide will follow at 3:14pm -1.7'.  If you get off early this afternoon, head down to the beach and check out some of the low tide beachcombing opportunities.  We have a WNW swell out of 286˚ at 6.6'.  There are some thick ones from 5' to 8' and the longer your ride the more of an adventure you're gonna have getting out.  Should dial down a bit for tomorrow.  Check the tides and prepare your game plan...

Check out this link for some great contest footage of Redondo High Vs South High at Torrance Beach.
