Type A Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

There were a few places yesterday that were protected.  One of them happened to be right underneath Kincaid's.  Not only was it breaking on the north side of the inside of the horseshoe, it was breaking on the south side as well.  We questioned the legality of surfing there, these days, but decided that it would take a while before anyone got there to shout you out...

Not yesterday's brilliant clarity, but 15 miles under hazy sun.  Winds were off by 5.7kts and the sea surface was clean and smooth.  The air temperature was 48.6˚ and the water was 56.7˚ despite yesterday's wind.  High tide was at9:55am +5.3' and low tide will be at 4:36pm -0.2'.  We have a WNW swell out of 301˚ at 4.6' and it was 3' to 5' this morning.

Some fine contest surf at Hermosa Pier this morning as the South Bay Surf League held it's first Men's Short Board Preliminary Heats.  Some fine surfing from all of the participants.  As we've said in the past, if you haven't been to one of these contests you're missing some great surfing!  The kids really go for it on every wave and it's made doubly exciting if you know the players or have a high school for which to root.  Contest mañana features Girl's Short Board, Girl's Long Board, Men's Long Board and Bodyboard.  First heat hits the water at 7am!

Another shot from the archives.  Breakfast at Brother's if you can tell us who the sax player is, what club she's in and who's holding the sax for the Amy Lee wannabe...  It's a toughy, but there's actually a bit of a clue in today's report!
