Martin Luther King Jr. Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Picture perfect... except you'll notice there's absolutely NO whitewater.  Not a little splash, no ankle snappers, nada...  Some days are like that...

Lots of visibility this morning, in the 20+ range with only a few straggling clouds about.  Winds persistent out of the SE at 2.9kts and gusting and the sea surface is smooth.  The air temperature was 59.4˚ and the water was 55.4˚.  High tide is up at 5:11am +5.0' and low tide will be at 12:46pm +0.4', with some minuses due at the end of the week in the pm for you beach gleaners.  The buoy has a west swell out of 264˚ at 2.6' showing on the beach at 2' to 3', but pretty wally crashy with no where to go...  unless you're thinking about paddling or breakfast.

Sometimes you just feel crabby.  These guys, well, they feel crabby all the time.  Always reminds us of the story of the crabs in a bucket.  We walked by and this guy had all these crabs in a bucket, but there was no top.  "How come the crabs don't just crawl out?" we asked.  "Watch'em" the old guy said.  As soon as one crab would start to edge up to the rim, the others would grab him and pull him back in.  "Whoa, that's pretty crazy!" says us.  The old guy looks at us and says, "Yeah, kinda like people.  We could help each other out, but we spend a lot of time pulling each other back down..."  Moral:  Don't spend money on a therapist, head down to the pier and talk to the folks who are fishing.
