Another Martin Luther King Birthday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here (#1) we have Dr. Scale's recently repaired wetsuit, with a rather provocative red thread suturing the slice.  The Professor usually uses black thread with additional glue on the stitch, but the red looked so good...

5 Miles visibility under cloudy skies and looked remotely like rain all day.  Winds were on from the get-go and no matter what we couldn't make it look good enough to go out.  The air temperature was 54.0 and the water is still 59.7 no matter what we try to do.  High tide at 5:37am +5.8' and low tide was at 12:58 -0.5.  We have a flimsy west swell out of the west 260º at 3.3' and it was half that and high tide, so check it out early and we'll let you know what we think is happening early...

Friday at Hermosa Pier (#2), dawned pink and offshore, with some shoulder high waves and just a bit lined up with the tide.  Better tides this week and let's see if the swell helps us out...

Pussser's Rum created the "Painkiller," the recipe which is shown here (#3).  It actually comes in 4 strengths, but no one has ever constructed this beverage using merely one ounce of rum.  The recommended recipe suggests serving on the rocks, but heated with a stick of cinnamon (lose the nutmeg) creates a beverage for the coldest South Bay evening...

Another reason (#4) we like "Swell Magnet" North Redondo Cam...  If they're not occupied you can dash down to the beach and swing your greasy little heart out...
