Shut Up & Dance Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Kade Kaufmann (#1) on a sizzler at Hermosa this morning.  The outside were almost twice this big, but that didn't stop the Redondo squad from chasing some barrels...

A teachable moment is what we have here in photo #2.  This lad is leading with his arms, projecting himself through this lined up section and building speed for what we hope is a spectacular maneuver...

Partly cloudy skies this morning and temperatures in the high 40's on the beach and 60.1 in the water.  That 60 number is pretty impressive for January.  Winds were offshore by 5.4kts and the sea surface was smooth.  High tide was at 7:05am +6.2' and low tide will be at 2:23pm -1.1'.  We have a west swell out of 267º at 4.6' and it was 4' to 8' with some macking sets...

Travis Connell (#3) on this right that was as close as we got to having a "pier nugget" this morning.  This wave was overhead, for sure, but Travis is also 6'4" so he makes it look smaller...  There were some standouts this morning and Jacob Ausland lead the charge, earning the title "Barrel Chaser."  Jon Fox had a wrap that looked like it was going to peel fiberglass off the bottom of his board and Carlos P/G inserted himself into some spectacular, but hopeless caverns...  Despite all the effort they expended this morning, most of the crew headed back to class to finish finals!  Good luck scholars!

Mark Cole sent us this notice (#4) of the "52 Weeks of Nature" photo exhibit that Hippy Tree is sponsoring.  We went last year and had a great time!  If you're looking for something to do Saturday evening don't miss it!
