Mortadela Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Who dat? (#1)  Merely the triumphant return of Jimmy Utah.  Checking it out this morning and providing wave, tide and weather information.  Nothing happens in Hermosa between 5am and 10 am that Jimmy doesn't know about it, nothing...

A beautiful morning with 15 miles visibility under mostly clear skies.  Winds were winter typical offshore by 6.3kts and the sea surface was smooth.  The air was a chilly 45º and the water is 59.4.  High tide was at 5:42am +5.4' and low tide will be at 1:02pm +0.3', getting ready for some big tidal shifts with the full moon on Friday.  We have a west swell out of 266º at 3.6' and it was 3' to 5'...

Taking a look at Rat (#2) yesterday.  With some low tides on the boards for this week, it might be a good spot to check when it's dredging...  It's also a bit protected from the wind when there's a lot of south in it...

The Sensei Joey does it again with this sunset shot! (#3)  As though it's not enough to get a stellar (the sun IS a star) shot, he also captured this wave at peak impact...  Great work!

"Pink sky in morning, sailor take warning."  Hermosa actually had a bit of size this morning with Coach Avery leading the charge...  The pink sky warning was downgraded to "watch your step" and then further to "actually looks okay."

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
