Mexico's Rockin' Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Here is another tube at Zicatela #1, which I swear I am going to figure out how to append to the end of the report rather than have it pop up like this every time...  You will see that they are ALL tubes and half of them spit...

Cloudy this morning with about 7 miles visibility.  Winds were funky out of the NNW by 5.7 and making it look gray and wind whipped.  The air seemed chilly at 53.6 and the water is 59.9.  High tide was at 5:23am +5.2' and low tide follows at 12:51pm -0.6'.  There's a SW swell out of 225º at 2.0' and it was 2' and poor at most spots...  Check it mañana, supposed to rain next week...

The line-up at Chacahua is deceptively simple (#2).  The peak is probably a couple of hundred yards from the end of the jetty and about as far south.  There are indicator rocks, maybe a quarter of a mile out, that let you know when to get serious about paddling.  If you look down and can see the bottom you're probably right on the peak.  If it's really clear, you're in too close...  It has a way of helping you to figure it out...

This is an image (#3) of Capitan Donaldo showing LoLa and Tarsan the line-up and where the most auspicious place would be to paddle out.  In fact he is saying "Don't paddle out there, because you will get your okole rearranged and spend half the morning trying to get outside..."

LoLa and the Professor (#4) share a moment in front of this rock bridge on the west side of the island.  The surf here, on the right tide, can be fast and hollow much like Puerto.  It blows out early though and then all the rats come scurrying back to the east side of the jetty...

Happy hour at Greenbelt Friday evening at 5:30pm.  Special training for St. Patrick's Day will be under way...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
