Taking A Break Tuesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

An empty Pier Plaza (#1) a few days ago.  Despite all of the news about folks cramming the beach, most were maintaining anti-social distancing as per Jetski's recommendations...  (photo credit: Ario Hooshmad)

In an attempt to communicate with surfers (in general) and Lost Boys (in particular) Buck sent us this diagram (#2) demonstrating the efficacy of protective measures to flatten the curve.  You will note that without protective measures you might as well be taking off on big purple Topaz and heading straight for Davey Jones Locker.  On the other hand with protective measures you are almost guaranteed a tube to shelter in place and won't tax the healthcare system to capacity...  Get it?  Got it!  Good!

Raining this morning and cloudy skies with 2 miles visibility.  Winds were variable, but switching onshore early and freshening throughout the day.  Whitecaps this afternoon.  the air temperature was 53.6 and the water is 60.1.  High tide was at 10:03am +4.9' and low tide goes out at 4:17pm +0.2'.  We have a SSW swell out of 205º at 3.3' and it was 2' to 3' and sloppy...

If you're not tired of reading what a fabulous opportunity this is for self-realization then take a look at this note (#3) from Emma Zeck.  We had to look her up and this is a snip of what we found:

"raised in the small town of Leavenworth, Kansas, emma now resides in Kansas City. she is a intuitive empath, writer, photographer, artist & all around creative. emma's healing modalities center around codependency & love addiction, generational trauma, boundaries, shadow work & inner child healing. emma has extensive experience with narcissistic abuse and dysfunctional family…"
(As usual this only raised more questions than it answered.  First we didn't think that Leavenworth, Kansas was that small a town.  Hell, it's got a fort and a maximum security prison, with arguably more residents than a lot of Kansas towns.  Oddly enough we though we were intuitive empaths, writers, photographers, artists AND bullshitters.  Our healing modalities center around aspirin and rum.  Our inner child had a love addiction with a teenage girl down the block, hiding in the shadows and crossing boundaries.  He remains wounded.  We have no idea what narcissistic abuse is and that worries us...  What is a functional family?)
