Windy? Yes And It's A Thursday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

How are your working-at-home projects going?  Well, the Professor was trying to rein in the bamboo on the south forty of the Mar del Fuego estate (#1).  So far it's bamboo 10, the Professor 3...

We've now heard that they will be closing Hermosa Beach at 6am on Saturday.  At least closing the Strand and the Beach.  Maybe this is the first time they've ever done this, unless they did it during WWII.  Of course the result is, that even though the surf is less than stellar, people are rushing down to the beach to get one last session in before they pull the plug.  At Sapphire there were ten guys out in questionable conditions (#2).  Winds were 10.2 kts from the west and as you can see, the sea surface has a considerable bump.  The air was a very chilly 50.4 and the water is 59.7.  High tide was at 11:08am +4.2' and low tide follows at 4:58pm +0.9'.  There's a ragged west swell out of 268º at 4.6' and it was 3' to 5' and fair to wind blown...

There are times when words fail us, however, that doesn't seem to be the case for a lot of folks who now have time to write and muse on our current condition/plight/opportunity.  Doctor Don (Lewis) sent us this hopeful note (#3).  Oh yeah,  "We luv u..."

A lot of things might be going to hell in a bucket right now, but not the removal of the Hermosa berm.  Nope, it comes down on March 26th whether you like it or not (#4).  Yes, even if there is an hurricane bearing down on our pointy little heads, they will still remove the berm on March 26.  A little certainty in uncertain times...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it"
