Drinking a beer (#1) for breakfast is perfectly acceptable if you:  Got up at 6am.  Surfed for over two hours.  Found the coffee full of grounds.  Are thirsty...

Winds were offshore this morning by 3.5kts and the sea surface is smooth.  10 miles visibility under cloudy skies with no rain in the immediate forecast.  The air temperature is 57.7 and the water is 60.1.  Low tide was early at 5:04am +-0.0' and high tide will be at 11:09am +5.5'.  Right now we have a WSW swell out of 250º at 3.0' and it was 2' to 3' with some nice zippers as the tide came up...

LoLa and Capitán Donaldo (#2) prepare for our last evening in Puerto by visiting Tita's for a beverage.  2 for 1 happy hour...

El Diablito (#3), looks like a good logo for a surfboard, but instead of a fork he should have a board under his arm...

Your basic dress code (#4) these days.  Of course we had questions!

        1.  Are yarmulkes skull caps?  Could the pope get in with his beanie?
        2.  Baggy clothing?  Is this how they sneak in under age patrons?  Pants or shorts must
             be worn around the waist - why stop there?  Have them stop right at the
             armpits...
        3.  No fleece sweatpants?  Go ahead, put sheep out of business.
        4.  No grills?  Of course not!  They don't want you cooking your own steak.  Okay, we              actually had to look this up.  They mean the grills you put on your teeth!  The surprise              we got was that you can buy grills new and USED!  WTF!
        5.  Wife beaters...  Can you believe someone actually has his BEST wife beater to go out              on Saturday...
        6.  Okay, who's measuring your jewelry?
        7.  No club affiliation vests or jackets.  When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way, but not              at Baja Sharkeez...
        8.  NO sunglasses at night!  No matter how bright your future might be...
        9.  It should be "No jerseys unless you're ON the team."
        10. NO offensive clothing.  Okay, back to the pope.  He wants to get in wearing a beanie              AND a baggy dress...  In or out?

Just in case you were wondering why we don't have happy hour at Baja Sharkeez...

Happy hour this Thursday the 12th at Laurel Tavern at 5:30.  There is no truth to the rumor that we were trying to avoid Friday the 13th.  This might actually be an excellent way to ease into the day...

Lost Boys & Co... P rofessor, This is a shot taken last week at a secret spot that is less than 30 miles away from you guys. Any guesses?  My buddy Dave sent it from Salta Verde Point on the backside of Catalina. Only accessible by boat or if you know someone with the key. Tip: The guy in the pic is the guy with the key! Sea Wolf... S o, apparently if you decide to leave Avalon and head to the backside you might score on a south swell.  For some reason this place looks like there might be some rocks on the inside.  No indications of that other than the boils following the guy with the key... C loudless skies this morning with 20+miles visibility.  Winds were off to 2.2kts and the sea surface had a residual bump that held all day.  The air temperature was 79.3˚ and the water was 66.4˚, apparently affected by the wind and upwelling.  High tide was at 6:55am +3.9' and low tide will be at 11:46am +2.8' for a little less than a foot differential.  There's a SW swell out of

S ancho, on this morning's Sruf Familia thread said it best, "Somber rainy day for Jimmy."  J immy Buffett died Friday, September 1.  He was 76 years old and had recently been struggling with health issues.  A Lost Boy of the first order his music was the sound-track for our lives. B ut he might have said it best: "But there's one particular harbor/ So far yet so near/ Where I see the days as they fade away/ And finally disappear." Not Forest Hills Friday Surf & Culture Report

W ho's behind those Foster-Grants?  Well, we'll bet that he's NEVER worn a pair of F-G's.  Are those Oliver People's?  Cartier's, Garrett Leight's?  We'll say Tom Ford's and he should be their poster boy.  Yep, it's Jetski in the arena at the US Open.  Looking rather trim in his court-side togs, we're waiting for his description of the action... W e continue our assault on some of the smallest waves ever ridden!  We'll have to check the Guinness book, but we think we're on to something.  So it was ten miles visibility under partly cloudy skies and winds were offshore by 5 to 7kts.  The3 air temp was 63.9º and the water was 70.7º at the ever popular #46221 Santa Monica Buoy.  High tide was at 11:01am +5.5' and low tide follows at 4:52pm +0.7'.  It turns out we observed that low tide and even with the afternoon south wind howling around 10kts, Sapphire still looked fairly smooth.  We had a south swell out o
