Trying To Keep A Straight Face Wednesday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

As it goes, most dark clouds have silver linings.  In this case all of the people who've stayed off the road have contributed to the clear skies.  This (#1) was a couple of days ago and it looked like Santa Monica was 2 miles away.  Someone said, "I bet this looks like when you were kids!"  NO!  When we were kids the smog was so bad that you couldn't see Santa Monica and people who moved here didn't know there were mountains ringing the basin until after a rain and the skies cleared for a day...

Yesterday the window opened up and it was pretty good from around 9am until 10:30, then the wind kicked up and it's still blowing.  So there's 20+ miles visibility with a few rolling cumulus clouds.  Winds were on from the start and at checkout it was 9kts and the sea surface was bumped.  The air temperature was 55.5 and the water is holding at 60.1.  10:35am is high tide and low tide is at 4:36pm +0.6'.  We have a SW swell out of 216º at 3.0' and it translated to a wind-jammed 2' to 3' and poor...  Forecast:  more wind😥

(#2)  If this keeps up, things are going to get ugly...

Yes, visits to the fridge have increased (#3), but likewise a lot of folks are doing on-line yoga, Tai-Chi and zoomba.  Of course, those wacky surfers are still hitting it when there are waves...

Then we have those stalwart folks who have decided to home school their kids (#4).  We never thought it was a very good idea for exactly this reason...
