Muttering Monday Surf & Culture Report

Lost Boys & Co...

Our first photo this morning is simply titled "Recipe for Disaster."  Our second is an absolutely frightening display of nostalgia.  The funny thing about this pic is that it was probably taken during the 80's, which in the grand scheme of things was closer to the 60's than not.  Of course you now get to guess who is who.  Good luck....

A fine March day dawned this morning with 25 miles visibility and brilliant clear skies.  Winds are out of the north at 10.5kts, gusting to 15.  The sea surface is white caps and pretty bumpy.  The air temperature is 52.9° and the water has dropped a few to 55.4°.  Brrr...  High tide is at 8:01am +4.9' and low tide will be at 2:36pm -0.1'.  The buoy is reading a straight west swell out of 277° at 6.6'.  Since it's so chopped, we'll call it 6' but there appear to be some bigger sets and things are pretty blown around.  Let's hope things straighten out a bit for tomorrow.  Could be some good waves.  Our third photo shows the rocks at Topaz pretty much under an outside set.  Even the top hat rock is under the second wave!  Of course we're looking at Sapphire - could be fun!

Okay, our 60's flashback, from left to right:  The Professor (who came as all three of the guys from 3 Dog Night.)  Next, is the Coach who came as the Maharishi.  Funny how now he is the "Deacon-rishi."  We bet he'll start his own religion based on salt water infusions.  Third is a very boufant Dave Sorenson.  With different makeup he could'a been Gene Simmons.  On the right is Denny Hengen who channeled Neil Young all night.  But it was 60's Neil Young...

"When the surf breaks, we'll fix it..."
 The Professor!!
